In 1942 the author C. S. Forester asked Roald Dahl to write down some notes about his time in the RAF so that he could shape them into a story. However his notes were so good that they were printed in the Saturday Evening Post just as they were. This was Roald Dahl’s first published work and it made him realise he had a real talent for writing.

"Last week, something very funny happened to the Gregg family. I am going to tell you about it as best I can."

Roald Dahl’s story of a girl who all her life has had a magic power literally at the tip of her finger. With there being no way of explaining how she does it, it just happens when she gets cross, and a short sudden flash comes out of her finger. Out of her finger it zaps out and whoever it touches (usually the person who has made her angry), gets punished and turned into all manner of things.

With an illustrated Quentin Blake cover as well as a whole exciting end section about Roald Dahl and his world.
